It's a girl!

We found out today that our little October pumpkin is a baby girl! Getting the sonogram was an amazing experience. The baby was kicking, waving her hands, and moving around the entire time. We even got to see her yawning. The technician took all sorts of measurements, but from what we could tell, everything seemed to look normal and healthy. It was really reassuring to see her in there and watch her moving around. I think we're both in awe.

Children's Museum

Jena, Tracy, and I took Brody to the Children's Museum in Pittsburgh this afternoon. This was our first experience at the Children's Museum and Brody absolutely loved it! He hasn't had many opportunities to interact with other kids yet, so we weren't sure how he would react, but he did great. He played with just about everything in the toddler room, and splashed in the waterplay area (he looked so cute in his little raincoat).

But I think his favorite thing was this bridge. He must have walked and run back and forth over it 20 times!

Summer Sun and Fun

Finally, we're starting to get some beautiful, sunny days with blue skies. Look at this cute little munchkin in his summer shades!

Plus, we could hardly believe that Nationality Days had nice weather this year - it's rained during it for probably about the past 10 years. Brody had a fun time checking out the sights, sounds, and different foods.

Day at the Zoo

Jena and I decided to take Brody to the zoo on one of the first beautiful, sunny Saturdays in May. The place was so crowded that it was difficult to see most of the exhibits, especially because you really have to be up close for the little guy in the stroller to be able to see. Brody's favorite parts of the zoo were the elephants (he sat up tall with huge, wide eyes when he saw them), the monkeys (who were going nite-nite as Brody would say), and the stingrays (although his little arms were way too short to be able to touch them in the touch-tank). We were also laughing because he kept pointing out "birdies" and "quack-quacks" even though there were much larger, much more exotic animals all around.

My First (Almost) Mother's Day

It seems like a post about Mother's Day is an appropriate time to announce officially that I'm a mother-to-be! The baby is due October 9th - I'm almost 19 weeks along now and so very excited! Paul and I couldn't be happier. He got me a card on Sunday (which I really didn't expect, seeing as how the baby isn't here yet). It was really sweet and he signed it "Me and the mango" - because the What to Expect book says that the baby is the size of a mango this week!

We had Paul's Mom and his family over for dinner. Paul made an awesome pasta dish with chicken and roasted red pepper sauce. Paul's Mom also had fun playing Tetris on my new iPad for quite some time. :)

Jena, Brody, and I went to visit Mom's grave in the morning. We both cried and poor little Brody didn't know what was wrong. I love you and miss you always Mom.

A Visit with Brody

I can hardly believe that Brody is 21 months old already! He is running around and getting into all kinds of mischief, but you can't stay mad at him because his cute little smile melts your heart every time. And he's such a smart little guy! I know everybody probably thinks that about their nephews, but I really believe it. He knows so many words already! He loves to look at books and magazines, just going through them and naming all of the things inside.

Yesterday, I brought Brody over to my house for a visit and we got to spend some quality time playing in the yard with Zoe (who he usually calls "Zo-Zo"). Brody also got to hang out with Uncle Paul and his friends while they were watching the Pens game. I think the highlight for Brody was all of the Doritos and pretzels that they fed him!

I'm looking forward to a summer filled with fun activities to do with Jena and Brody - he's at such a great age for the zoo, I think!
